Agriculture
The Zhou Dynasty developed in agriculture with use of fertilizers and pesticides. They also had amelioration of plowing methods. They grew many crops to feed the people of their dynasty. The Iron Age brought iron-tipped oxdrawn plows and improved irrigation techniques which increased the agricultural yield which in turn increased the population. With the increase in population came greater wealth, and people started to become merchants and traders.
Mathematics
The Zhou Dynasty developed in mathematics. They could do basic arithmetic and fractions. They could also do geometry and trigonometry . They calculated with chips and tallies. The people also perfected the calender. The Zhou people know how to do negative numbers, decimals, and algebra.
Other Inventions/Achievements
The Zhou people had the inventions of iron technology and the spread of urbanization and commerce. The first sections of The Great Wall of China were built between 770 and 450 B.C. by small independent kingdoms. The origin of Chinese philiosophy developed to deal with political and social changes. The compass was invented between 480-221 B.C. The kite was the oldest type of aircraft. They perfected bronze casting, produced glass, and discovered magnetism.
